James T. Madore is senior business writer at Newsday, covering the regional economy and economic development.
J.T. has written about business for much of his career, except for six years as a government reporter including a stint as statehouse bureau chief. During his time as media business writer, he was the lead reporter on a team investigating Newsday’s circulation fraud. That and other stories have been recognized with SABEW BIB awards, the National Headliner Award and Investigative Reporters & Editors Awards.
In 2015, he was selected for the Goldschmidt Data Immersion Workshop in Washington, D.C.
J.T. has been at Newsday since 1997. Previously, he worked at The Buffalo News and Watertown (N.Y.) Daily Times. He holds a bachelor’s degree in British history and politics from Washington University in St. Louis and a masters degree from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. He joined SABEW in 1989 when enrolled in the Herbert J. Davenport Fellowship Program in Business and Economics Reporting at Missouri School of Journalism.
