Weekend managing editor
Bernie Kohn is the weekend managing editor at Bloomberg News, overseeing global breaking news coverage on Saturdays and Sundays. He has spent most of his 34-year journalism career in business reporting and editing and is a past president of the Society of American Business Editors and Writers. As AME/Business at the Baltimore Sun, Kohn conceived and co-edited a series on Maryland’s ground-rent system that was a Pulitzer Prize finalist in 2007. Kohn was a reporter and editor at the Washington Post, the Tampa Tribune, the Charlotte Observer and the Pittsburgh Press as well as AME/Business and projects/investigations editor in Baltimore, and has also been communications director for the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation. Kohn has been a Loeb Awards preliminary judge and a speaker at seminars for the American Press Institute and the Knight Center for Specialized Journalism. He is a graduate of Ball State University, Muncie, Ind., which in 2007 recognized him with its Journalism Alumnus award. He lives in Rockville, Md.
